When we started to conduct mandatory covid testing for all our workforce including foreign workers in December 2020, we started to discover covid positive cases among our workforce.
In this video which was recorded on 23 January 2021, our CEO, Ooi Lay Pheng, talks openly about facing this challenge while keeping the manufacturing going so that we would not disrupt customers’ businesses.
Berjayapak is listed under the essential services category and our factory needs to be open to continue serving customers who use Berjayapak’s pallets, crates and boxes to ship cargo all over the world.
In this video, Lay Pheng talks about the Berjayapak experience working with the Malaysian Ministry of Health (Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia or better known as KKM), how we quarantined other workers who came in close contact with the covid positive ones, what was done for the workforce and how much was spent as a company to protect the workforce.
She also commends her team who came together to do what they needed to do despite having no experience in handling such a crisis.
While the pandemic is far from over, she believes that the story must be shared openly so that employers and employees can face this period of uncertainty with courage and calm.
