Ooi Chang Seaw
Chang Seaw, or CS as he is better known, has over 35 years of experience in the palletizing industry. His desire to make a better life for his family resulted in starting Berjayapak which was then known as Syarikat Perusahaan Berjaya.
His humility and approachability coupled with a natural sales ability enabled him to grow the company in the early years. Until today, he can still be seen on the Berjayapak production floor, actively engaging with the team.
With Berjayapak’s environmental promise to ‘reduce, reuse and recycle’, he oversees the company’s pallet recycling and scrap collection program, converting wood waste into profitable raw materials.
Ooi Eng Leng
Starting the company with CS, Eng Leng similarly has more than 35 years of experience in the wood packaging industry. He took charge of the production of the wood pallets, boxes and crates and even transportation in the early years.
Currently, he manages the company’s facilities and machinery and is extremely proud of his engineering team who upkeeps all the machinery in Berjayapak. He leads the company’s Environment, Health and Safety committee so that Berjayapak meets all the mandatory legislative requirements.
Eng Leng was an indispensable source of advice and support when Berjayapak started its Vietnam manufacturing facility in 2019.
Ooi Lay Pheng

Lay Pheng is the CEO of Berjayapak Sdn Bhd. She joined the company in 2015 after a decade of working in the healthcare industry in Kuala Lumpur. Prior to that, she had spent 10 years studying and working in the USA.
While working in Kuala Lumpur, she volunteered with community organisations and found her passion in mentoring and teaching the young.
B.A Political Science and International Trade
John’s speciality is in timber procurement locally and abroad. He works closely with timber suppliers to get the best quality wood materials for Berjayapak’s customers. He is also a member of the Malaysia Wood Industries Association where he keeps updated about the latest trends and developments in the wood and timber industry.
John graduated with B.A Political Science & International Trade from Chinese Culture University, Taiwan, Upon graduation, he worked in the dye industry in Taiwan before returning to Malaysia and joining Berjayapak in 2014.
Lee Soon Swee
B.Sc Aeronautical Engineering
M.Sc Mechanical Engineering
Soon Swee is a graduate of Wichita State University, USA with degrees in Aerospace (B.Sc) and Mechanical Engineering (M.Sc). He has more than 24 years of experience in the multinational corporate environment.
In 2016, he supported the incorporation of innovative heat-treating technology into Berjayapak’s manufacturing which significantly reduced wood drying time and moisture content and raised productivity exponentially. His R&D and engineering knowledge have been invaluable to Berjayapak’s growth.
Eric Ong Kah Hong
Advisor to Board of Directors
Eric’s management of Berjayapak spans production, operations, planning and logistics, specifically in optimizing productivity and profitability. He joined Berjayapak in 2003 as its general manager and in 2015, was appointed the advisor to the Board of Directors.
Eric graduated from the University of Windsor, Canada with a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Mathematics. Before Berjayapak, Eric was in semiconductor manufacturing where he specialized in supply chain management.
